Summer is coming! And it is indisputably the best time to come to Helsinki and explore the city. If on your adventure you feel like you need to refresh yourself here are 4 coffee shops to stop by.
Kanavaranta 7C, Katajanokka
This calm cafe with relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff is in Katajanokka, just 3 min away from the central Market square . Consider yourself a hard-core coffee lover? + Prefer organic and fair-trade product? That’s the right place. Johan & Nyström offers a big selection of organic coffees, “more exclusive, tastier, quirkier, fairer” coffees. If you are not much of a coffee person, you might be tempted to have a cup of tea out of their impressive tea collection. A great place for vegetarians and vegans, Johan & Nyström offers vegan lunches and a big selection of raw cakes. Raw treats prices are hmmm quite high so take a friend along and share :)
Perämiehenkatu 10, Punavuori
Moko Market & Café is a concept store that combines an interior design store and a café. Every time I go there I don’t leave without buying something tasty or useful and beautiful. The spacious and full of light Moko Market houses a cafe, a coffee roastery, gourmet bazaar, cozy private rooms for groups, families or special occasions and shop selling interior decoration, linen, books and whatnot to keep your house clean and beautiful. Apart from coffees and teas they offer Sunday brunches, lunches on weekdays and pastries. Check their lunch offer here.
Moko Market & Café is very close to one of the oldest areas of Helsinki – Eira. From Moko definitely go exploring one of the most charming areas of Helsinki.
Aleksis Kiven katu 12, Kallio
When exploring Kallio area stop by Sävy cafe in Aleksis Kivin katu 12. It is a small coffee shop that looks a bit like students dormitory common room (except the chandeliers are way nicer). Very friendly atmosphere, simple interior, books and newspapers sprinkled around the place, a lot of sunlight and good coffee. A great place to spend a morning alone or with friends.
Kuikkarinne 1, Lauttasaari island
Café Kasinonranta is in the southern part of the island on the beach of Hevosenkenkä (Horseshoe) bay, the most popular recreation area in Lauttasaari. Take a seat on the cafe terrace and enjoy a beautiful view and fresh coffee with pastries. And then take a walk along the southern edge of the island, one of the most peaceful and loveliest sites of Helsinki. In fact, that’s how I plan to spend a couple of days this summer.
